First Semester reflection

I am glad and excited to choose the course IB Theatre. At first, I just wanted to have fun in this class, but now I feel like I actually learn something from this class. I also think this class is really fun because we had many activities went with a different section. In the first section, we have learned how to speak and act in a larger reaction. We had many activities such as using acting voice to say the lines, and it also taught me not to become nervous when I speak to others. As time passes, we also studied the how to read a monologue in the acting voice. How can we act when we are speaking alone. We should add more body languages and the emotions towards our acting. As my character, I still remember that I am disappointed to my dad that he never comes to my football game, so in my adaptation, I should be more disappointed, annoyed, and desperate about what he did. Using sigh, lower my head can actually influence how sad I am. We also studied Stanslaski, he was the one who want...

Reflection on Vampire version of Romeo and Juliet

Last week Ms. Guarino asks us to write an adaptation of our own thinking about modernize Romeo and Juliet. Me, Jasmine, Lesley and Jamal are doing the modernized Vampire version of Romeo and Juliet. Romeo is a vampire in a vampire family. His dad was working in a company near the school, so he changes into this school. His mom alarms him not to communicate with any girls in the school, yet he falls in love with Juliet in the homecoming dance. They promise to be together and marry. However, Romeo’s mom finds out that Romeo comes home so late, so she comes up with a full plan. She connects with Rosaline, and hopes she can be her daughter in law. Rosaline at the same time loves Romeo as she saw him in the past. Romeo refuses her request, and says he only loves Juliet, not other can compare to her love. As a result, Rosaline finds Juliet in the school by using Romeo injuries when he plays baseball. Juliet hears this and follows her. She then is being killed by Rosaline. Romeo sees this, pu...

Fall Play Review

Mr. Aronson was the director of the play, and Mrs. Guarino was the producer of the play. Ms. Guarino asks us to see that on November 9th 10th or 11th, but actually, I was in the play. We had a lot of fun on having lines between each other. Caucasian Chalk Circle is reflecting the behaviors of other people in the society, and let us ruminate the behaviors in nowadays. The Caucasian Chalk Circle begins with a prologue that deals with an argument over a valley. Two groups of peasants both want to have the valley. One group said that they used to live in the valley and herded goats there, so they can produce cheese in the valley, while the other group is from a neighboring valley and hopes to plant fruit trees in the valley. In the end, the fruit farmers get the valley because they will use the land better. The peasants then hold a small party and a Singer agrees to tell them the story of the Chalk Circle. The Caucasian Chalk Circle then is describing who was the real mother of the ch...

Blog #8

For me, I was in Jasmine’s group which her plan was to have a different species between Romeo and Juliet. Juliet is a normal human beings who is in Cheshire school, and Romeo, however, is a zombie. His father has a work near Cheshire, so they move to Cheshire. His mom puts him into the school, and asks him not to hurt anyone in the school because Romeo is a vampire, so he might eat people in the school, and Romeo agrees. He will never get in touch with anyone in the school. The conflict is when Romeo goes to the Homecoming dance, he falls in love with Juliet, and they start to date in the balcony because they love each other. Romeo still keeps his secret in his mind that he never told Juliet about his identity. Eventually, Romeo tells Juliet that he is a zombie a month later. And what is the reaction for Juliet? I am playing the character of Romeo’s mother, in which I should keep in mind that let my son be silent, and whenever he wants to go out at same point, I should be curious and ...
In this class, Ms.Guarino asks us to write an adaptation about the famous play Romeo and Juliet. For my interpretation to this play and also based on the setting that must be in the modern day. My setting is it locates in America where the two rival family live just right besides in a big mansion. And their hate is basically about the business issue because they make the same products, in order to make more people to buy their products, they compete for almost hundreds years. The costume for my characters will have normal dress code, because it is located in the modern time, but maybe when they go to party, they have to dress formal. Also, the light will firstly be separated between the two mansion, which represents the two family, but when Romeo and Juliet get to know each other well, the light will become more in the center, and their mansion will become closer because at last I want the two young people married, I don’t want them to died in their tombs, and it’s kind of unreasonable...
