Good Haiku

An old silent pond... A frog jumps into the pond, splash! Silence again. As Ms.Guarino mentioned, people are not only looking for the rhymes, but also the connections in each line. We can see in this poem that the three sentences, or phrases are related. The first one gives a brief introduction, then it explains the story. I think this one is good because it creates a really good image that I can imagine easily: an old silent pond, a frog jumps in, and it became silent. The situation is easy for us to think. The poem also has several rhymes, pond as the rhythm in the first two sentences. A mountain village under the piled-up snow the sound of water. I really like the poem with many scenes. For example, the mountain village, the piled-up snow and the sound of water, we all can see the scenery of a small mountain village, filled with snow and crystalline. It must be a really beautiful mountain. Yet, this could also depict the scenery of spring, representing how the organism start...

Which I like

I read through every single haiku that everyone has, but personally, I like Cassidy’s haiku poem. Here it comes: Clapping sounds: Can you make a clap? A clap that sounds like a snap. Or maybe a tap? I like this poem because the whole thing are connected. The first is a introduction’ Can you make a clap?’ , but then it gives other request to follow. ‘A clap that sounds like a snap? Or maybe a tap? Also, it has several rhymes. Clap, snap and tap are three rhymes that correspond in this poem, and it makes sense. Not like complete different meanings, but hers make a lot of sense when you say it out.

Clap Tap and Map

Clap your hand right here Tap your foot down on the ground Take your map and start Actors are Rapping Others are clapping for them Everyone enjoys  Let’s clap together Stand higher and sing louder People are sleepless

In-class writing

Both of the essays wrote about the book, Romeo, and Juliet. I personally thought they've got a high grade because they tend to analyze the character and their performances. They both have a great synopsis of explaining the entire book. Then, they tried to focus on their interpretation of the book. Afterward, they then put their interpretation under the performances they have. In Sam's essay, I graded as 5, 8, 5 because of the literal analysis. Particularly, In Sam's essay, she talks about the overall conflict in the story by showing the IB a brief summary of what's the play like. Also, she then analyzes the character Juliet, then she also analyzes a specific act by stating the Shakespeare's understanding. For example, she points out how Juliet would rather marry to Romeo than Paris, and explaining why with the sentences, and words. Then, she shows us the actions and emotions that she would have in the performances. She even talks about her understanding of the chang...

Third Draft

The Glass Menagerie is a play of representing memory, the relationship between family members. It was written by Tennessee Williams. His writing inspiration was mainly aspired by his life experience in his family. The main character in the Glass Menagerie is Tom, Amanda, and Laura. Tom is the narrator of the story, representing Williams himself. Tom is a young boy in the family, but because of the left of the father, working in a warehouse, he then has so many burdens on his shoulders so that the family wouldn't live in streets. Amanda is the mother in the family that she totally depends on Tom's job, yet she still takes care of the two children. The other child is Laura, she lives in the house with her family, and she is a shy character in this book. Dropped out from both high school and typewriting school because of her fear and self-abased. The story then begins. In our group, we selected the first dinner scene because that scene represented the initial conflict between Tom...

My evalution

This month, we created some video about the book, The Glass Menagerie . Then, we need to write a paper to the IB about what we want to do in this performance, including literal analysis, performance, and video performance. I think my reflection is not that good.  First of all, I wrote a lot about the literal analysis rather than the performance because I analyze Amanda’s personality based on the texts in the book. Yet, I didn’t really have a lot of performances from the analysis, so I think I should write more about what I can do in the performance, deleting some of my literal analysis. Mentioning too much can be so repetitive in the paper so it will look messy. Moreover, I need to have more specific evidence to support my point, adding more performances. However, I think my structure is reasonable because I can mention she is an annoying person or controlled person, then giving by specific evidence to show that, afterward, I can think of some movement that she can do during the ...

Les Miserables Review

On February 12th, I was grabbed by Ms.Guarino’s request. She asked me if I could be on the show. Then, I suddenly turn in the musical Les Miserables . This review would be little different than other reviews because I participate in this one and this show was especially touching and profounding. This show was based on the novel of Les Miserables , written by Hugo during the French Revolution. Due to the plights life of the poor and the upper level, they started to uprising to have equal rights in the society. This book highlights the difficulties of the people in France. But at first, I will introduce the story. Jean Valjean is charged in the prison for 19 years because he stole some bread for his sister. Then 19 years later, he is freed by Javert, yet Javert gives him a parole for his crime. Because of the parole, people usually treat him differently. As a result, when he is in a church, he steals silver from a bishop. However, the bishop forgives him. He is frustrated about his ...
