First draft

Firstly, I selected the first dinner scene because that scene represented the initial conflict between Tom and Amanda. The first scene introduces the characters, so it might help audience to see the entire show. Also, it highlights the family problems of characters that gives audiences about the relationship among the family members.   The theme for our part will be the fighting and the imagination that each one has. Firstly, in Amanda’s mind, the happiest thing for her is the gentlemen callers she had before. 17 gentlemen callers indicated about her previous life and her motivation of living forward. As a result, when she mentions about the gentlemen callers, she would be proud and showing off to the family. Indicating the self-confident in her. Whereas in Laura’s mind, she only dreamed about her glass animals, dreaming that the glass animals would be the only friend she had in the family. However, Tom’s imagination is “the ‘movies’. His only bailment would be going to the mo...

Reflection on the Glass Menagerie

We make some progress in our scene that I try to understand the character of Amanda. I demonstrate how the character of Amanda would be like by trying to read the book and analyze the characters. Having talkative and maybe other personality blends into the project. For example, when Tom is coming from the warehouse, she is standing up and nagging him about what should he do with his special eating ways. I slow some sentences down so that Tom will be able to hear me and my emphasis on chewing food.  That emphasizes how annoying she is. Personality I think she is annoying, so I use my interpretation of how annoying she is. Standing up and accusing Tom of not doing the right way of eating ways, also because Tom says about her hawk-like attention,  I should stare at him with my attention. Focusing on him and look at him in a weird way because of his eating way. Amanda doesn’t allow Tom to smoke, doesn’t even allow him to leave the table. As a result, this must have a strict voice...

Last week, In lit & performance class, we did our group scene. We are performing the first dinner scene, which is the first scene in this book and this scene can clearly show the problem we had in the family. I am the most annoying character in this play, Amanda is the controlling character in the family. She wants Tom and Laura listen to her every time. In my opinion, she is the boss in the family. She always wants to control everything in the family through her words. We can obviously see that when she is talking to the family. She is so talkative on the table that she wants to share every single thing with her family, telling them what had happened to her. However, I think she is only focusing on Tom because of her stereotype that men should work harder in the family. She seeks to Tom for doing things for the family, but Tom only wants to leave the family as soon as possible. She, as a result, has more attention to Tom that even Tom is so tired of work, she wants to judge him. M...
