Act 2

In this class, Ms.Guarino asks us to write an adaptation about the famous play Romeo and Juliet. For my interpretation to this play and also based on the setting that must be in the modern day. My setting is it locates in America where the two rival family live just right besides in a big mansion. And their hate is basically about the business issue because they make the same products, in order to make more people to buy their products, they compete for almost hundreds years. The costume for my characters will have normal dress code, because it is located in the modern time, but maybe when they go to party, they have to dress formal. Also, the light will firstly be separated between the two mansion, which represents the two family, but when Romeo and Juliet get to know each other well, the light will become more in the center, and their mansion will become closer because at last I want the two young people married, I don’t want them to died in their tombs, and it’s kind of unreasonable if they kill themselves in my play, so I will probably let the two family realize that the kids love each other. The story will be like Romeo as the offspring of the Montague, he often hears about Juliet, but he doesn’t really know her because his parents told him not to. Same as Juliet, she hears about Romeo several time,but she has never talked or seen him before. And there is a party that Juliet’s family holds because Juliet is already 20+, her parents worried about that she is not able to find anyone to get married at this age. They always command her to find a boyfriend, but Juliet doesn’t want to find and also there is no one that she likes. So the family is afraid that she will never be married that it means they will never has any people that can inherit their company, so for this, the parents throw a big party which invited every upper classes to join their party, not just have fun, but also find someone for their daughter. Because Romeo lives next door, and he is curious that what’s happening next door that why there is so many people coming to their door. With the curiosity, he dresses up and knocks the door( and the servant opens the door, doesn’t notice that’s Romeo). Music here will be gingerness and doesn’t want anyone to notice that’s Romeo, so he will probably wear a mask. He goes up where the people are. Lord Capulet notices that is Romeo, but he doesn’t want to trigger any problem, so he doesn’t say anything. Romeo looks at the swimming pool and he sees Juliet is in the water with beautiful swimming suit, she is like a mermaid. Romeo is attracted by her. He sees her shining like diamond from the pool, so he decides to go up. Basically, they all get attracted by each other. Music will be more romantic, and with more interaction with the two people(will be pop songs which related to the modernize version) However, one of the servants finds out and threaten them if they don’t give her enough money, she will tell this to the Lord Capulet and Lord Montague, so they can never be together. Lord Capulet discovers a man that’s suitable for Juliet, but Juliet doesn’t like him at all, he always invites her to go out for date, and Juliet always uses excuses to postpone. Because they couldn’t have any money, so the servant tells Juliet’s father, father threatens them if they don’t break up, she will live in the street, and nobody will support her at all. She has no idea, so she goes up to her friend, her friend suggests her to go away to other country. She thinks it’s the only way to do it, so she packs all the package. Music here will be really thrilling, nervous. At the same time, because Romeo always goes out, and his family finds out he has secret thing with Juliet, so he gets locked in his room and his phone was being taken away, so he couldn’t contact with Juliet. He refuses to eat in the room because he couldn’t see Juliet. As a result, he gets so sick in his room. Romeo’s parents see that, and feel bad for their son. So they finally let him get out. At once, Juliet informs Romeo and tells him to go out of the country or they can never be together. Then they get ticket to fly to Europe and they live happily.
For my ending part, Romeo and Juliet flee to other country and their parents get really mad about that, so they have high blood pressure, it cause them to have heart attack, so they start to forgive their fleeing. They realize they could never force them to break away.
