Krik? Krak! My character: 9 Uta Hagen Questions

In this book, the author utilizes different techniques in the style of writing. Because each story has different protagonists, so she uses different tones and voices to illustrate different perspectives.  For example, in the first story, the voice was sent from the unnamed girl; she might be normal, anonymous, but she must represent everyday voices or a certain group of people, facing difficulties, cruelties around the cities, and seeing people are being killed or tortured. From a young girl perspective, we can see the daily bases of Haitian lives. Though it declared freedom from white men, people in Haiti still encountered terrible 'disasters' which include both physical one and mental one in people's mind.
In Haiti, people were living in fears because their lives were threatening by the government: the government can nearly kill anyone they want if that person threat their position. Can we imagine how terrible that is?
In Uta Hagen's 9 questions, I decided to analyze the first story's unnamed female character.
1. Who am I?
I am a Haitian girl who falls in love with a boy. I live with my parents in a house. I saw many many cruelties in the society, witnessed the killings and violence in the society. I hear the grievance from Fort Dimanche Prison about students were being shot and some of them even got their head chopped off. I am a girl who cares about the people around me, noticing all the small details of people, but this place is so hopeless and helpless. Hearing all the bad news, I couldn't do anything to help it, yet I want to leave this place as soon as possible. I love the boy so much that I always write journals to him about my experiences in Haiti. At first, I think the boy is the best for me; he does everything just for me, promising me we will eventually meet again in the near future.
2. What time is it?
It's around 20 centuries in Haiti. The boy flees to America but left me in here. I wrote my journal every day since he left the city. We have a promise that we will write down things to each other in journal way, so when we meet in the future, we will give these to each other.  I want to write it down because I miss him.
3. Where am I?
I am in Haiti, a chaotic, messy place right down America. I often hear the violence around me. People were hoping the old president to come back, but this place is terrible. Every day, people live in hopeless. The only thing we can do is hope these things won't happen to me. As my father said, the soldiers can do things what they want, and to keep out from it, we need to become careless about our society.
4. What surrounds me?
As I mentioned, cruelty surrounds me. All different kinds of news attack me. The Young Federation were being killed. A group of young students was killed by the government because of radio six. Madam Roger's son was one of them, and his head was being chopped off. She can only have his head. I am so scared by what happened to his son. I could never go out of the door anymore. Also, the soldiers went to Madam Roger's house, but I couldn't help to solve it. The chaotic city and relentless soldiers make me so scared of the society. Yet, my father is deciding to leave here. We will go to a more civilized place.
5. What are the circumstances?
She is the daughter of her father, in which her father wants to protect her from chaotics and rumors. However, she knows everything that happens around her. She is frightened by the surroundings. Nevertheless, her parents love her so much that they will devote everything to love her and get her out of the place. In addition, she is in love with another boy which is fleeing from the city. When the boy is not there anymore, she is so irritable, but couldn't help. She is trying to write journals to the boy.
6. What are my relationships?
I fall in love with the boy, but he is leaving for America. I couldn't be with him because I have my family. I couldn't leave my family. I respect that boy, accepting his decision. We even made a promise to each other that we will keep writing 'letters' to each other. I believe we can meet one day, and even though I am so frightened of writing those terrible experiences down, but for the boy, I can do it.
7. What do I want?
I always want the boy to be with me. Every time I write the letters to the boy, I love him more. Then, I want him to by my side, hoping him not going to America, but stay with me. In the end, I write my last letter, expressing how much I love him. However, after my father took me to Rose Ville, I understand him more because he doesn't want me to endure any tortures. Even though I love him a lot, I can hold myself more. Maybe at the end of the story, I want my family to be peaceful. Maybe I want my whole family to stay together. Also, I want no more violence.
8. What is in my way?
Everyone is in my way. I just want the boy, and the government caused him to go to America so we cannot meet anymore. He is my love, and because he is one of the Young Federation, the government wants to kill him. Also, my parents won't even allow me to keep his things. I am just missing him through writing to him, but my father derived me from writing to him as well.
9. What do I do to get them?
I couldn't leave with my love, but I still write him journals, explaining things to him about Haiti. However, I think the end it's not the end. I will still write more to him to express my affection to him. Maybe we promise to write to them so I can give it to him one day. My love is like the endless sea. Maybe you die on the ship, but I will still write you my letters.
