In-class writing

Two stories that I am choosing from are “A Wall of Fire Rising” and “Night Women”. The two stories has the same theme of love. The two young women all loved their children really much, showing their loves in the front directly. When little Guy is presenting his lines, Lili shows full of her affections and attentions. “ Bravo,” Lili cheered, pressing her son into the folds of her apron. “Long live Boukman and long live my boy.” This shows her fully love toward her son; maybe really proud of her son by having the lines, and her son succeed in reciting his line, which makes her really proud and give full attention to her son. Also, when her husband died dropping on the ground, her first instinct is to cover her son’s face; she protects her son from seeing it. In the Night Women, the woman describes her son in a beautiful way, “ The way my son reacts to my lips stroking his cheeks decides for me if he’s asleep. He is like a butterfly fluttering on a rock that stands out naked in the middle of a stream.” This display her affection to her son, like using the word ‘butterfly’ to describe him, as the most beautiful creature. The two different women use different actions to show their love toward their sons.

Act 2

Scene 1: Romeo is now struggling about what should we do because after kissing Juliet, he finds out that he is in love with Juliet and he wants to meet Juliet again. Then, he decides to go find Juliet. Benvolio yells and he is trying to find Romeo, but Mercutio says he is going to go back to sleep. Benvolio argues that he jumped over the wall so he couldn’t go home, then, Benvolio asks Mercutio to call Romeo. Mercutio uses his ideas and he tries to let Romeo appear like summon him by saying Rosaline and her beauty. Then, they left. Romeo says it’s easier to say because he didn’t love her anymore. Romeo enters Juliet’s garden. After that, he sees windows, he believed that is Juliet’s.  He starts to describe his love again by saying a compliment to Juliet; he loves her too much that every word he cares about her. Reflective Blog Post

1). Know well about the terminology of theatre. For example, the downstage, upstage, down right, up left. I know the stage direction pretty well. Also, I know about the type of stage because when it comes to direct the play, I can obviously point out which stage do I want the best. Besides, because I stayed a long time in theatre, the projecting voice sometimes is quite easy for me to perform. More over, as I stand in theatre, I know more about the expressions of characters. How to express emotions on the stage. From IB theatre, I acknowledge the usefulness of colors in the theatre. I know the terms methods of Stanislavski, Uta Hagen, Brecht...etc. 2). However, sometimes, my expression might not be that accurate. I couldn’t reach to the realism. From this year, I will try harder to illustrate my natural performance on the stage.
