The Children of the sea

1). The two nameless narrators, one is a boy who is fleeting from Haiti.
Another is a girl who comes to ville rose. The girl’s parents.
The pregnant girl in the ship, The old man, Mandan Roger.
2). Two nameless narrators are in love and write each other letters they will never read.
The female narrator is angry that her father opposes their love,
but she finds out he gave up all his possessions to protect her from the soldiers.
The female narrator’s family hears the soldiers kill her neighbor,
whose son was in the Youth Federation. The male narrator, also a member, has fled Haiti.
In his boat is a pregnant teenager, Célianne, who was raped by a soldier.
Days after her baby dies, she throws it and herself overboard.
The female narrator sees a black butterfly and knows the male narrator has died too.
3). In this story, it is so depressing. We acknowledge the sad love story between the two nameless narrators. The boy and girl love each other from the start like the endless sea. However, because of the political reason, the boy has to flee Haiti. He then writes letters to the girl to present his missing feelings. He depicts the things that happened in the ship,
telling her what is happening. On the other hand, the girl is writing to him about the stopless massacre in Haiti. The two children exchange their worrisome, sadness, and misunderstanding about the society, and chaotic of the Haiti government. When the crews told the boy to throw the notebook out of the ship,
he can no longer bear the homesick, he cannot bear anything down.
As a result, he chooses to die between the sea. As the girl sees the black butterflies,
she knows the boy’s ship sank. The letters between them represent hope,
yet once they lose the letters, the hopes disappear.
The story is really heavy desperate in some way. People have no future or opportunity to choose for themselves. The dictatorship of Haiti controls people's freedom and their thinking. To prevent harms from the girl, the girl's father uses all of his money to bribe the soldiers so that she will not be raped or killed. When I read the story, I kind of think of my dad that sometimes he sacrifices just for our family.
