The Glass Menageries: the character I want to play

I would like to play the character of Amanda to show her dominance in the play because I want to try something new. I always am a shy and timid person, so the personality of Amanda is totally different. She wants to control other people through talking. She also has the confident of convincing others: when she was young, she has 17 gentlemen callers so that she thinks she can force people to do they don’t want. My personality is opposite so hers might be challenging for me. I want to see to be a nagging person, and how can I do actions based on that.For example, the scene that I want to play is the first dinner scene when Tom comes in, having the dinner with his family. Then, Amanda judges his eating style by correcting him with the ‘right’ way of the eating dish, which is not like an animal. She thinks Tom has some issues with having the weird eating style. However, Tom thinks he is totally fine, but Amanda is so nice to Laura which you might wonder why she is picking on Tom. Moreover, The scene where she wants Tom to invite a gentleman caller to the house is another great scene I want to do. This scene, she decides that once Tom introduces a gentleman caller, the family will no longer need him around. He can then do whatever he wants in the future, and nobody can ever control his decision. Amanda knows about his plan and the only thing that she hopes is someone who can replace him, to bring some men back, so they can have income expands. At that point, she says it with hope and she knows she can no longer keep him, so the only choice is to find a man she can depend on. She pleases him to do the favor, so they can still get things. Also, I want to be in the scene of the second dinner scene when the gentle caller Jim comes in, and then Amanda talks about her experiences with them about having multiple gentlemen callers. This will mark as the hope of Amanda. She still has the last hope that Tom brings in, so she tries to wear pretty and to show that maybe she can allure Jim to be son in law. She is a person who thinks she has power in the family, so she tries to control everything by first deciding the eating habits, then deciding a gentleman caller from Tom’s factory, after that deciding to allure Jim. As a result, the family can gain support from Jim instead.
