Friar Lawrence is a peacemaker.

This week, we basically went through the whole scene of act 2. At first, Romeo finds out that he falls in love with Juliet. He thinks he should go and find her because his heart is be with that girl. Then, his friends couldn’t find him. He flies over the walls and tries to find his love Juliet. He goes to a window and says that this one must be Juliet because she is the sun; he loves her so much(keep saying her characteristics). He hides there and when he sees Juliet, he heard her words to him, and he finds out that Juliet loves him as well, so they decide to get married even though they are enemies. On the next day, Romeo finds Friar, he wants Friar to marry them as couple. Initially, Friar doesn’t agree with him because he finds another girl and forget that ex-love so quickly. Then, when Romeo begs him to get married, he thinks maybe through this marriage, the two opponent family would going to change and nice to each other.
Initially, the two opponent family fight against each other, and they almost kill Benvolio. Fortunately, the prince comes and saves the family from being hurt. This display how huge the grudge between the two family. And in Act 2, Friar symbolize for peace as well. He starts to think about all the events that happen before. They see each other and will immediately start fighting against; innocent people are getting killed because of that ancient grudge. Friar couldn’t want to see that again, even the two young people are attracted by each other, they couldn’t get married just because that unreasonable rivals. Maybe, Friar wants to solve the problems quickly and he doesn’t want to see people hurt each other, so he agrees to let them get married. He thinks naively thinks that will solve the problem, so people won’t fight against, and they will get peaceful marriage. Based on the flowers he plants and his willing, Friar believes that two evil could resolve in a good ending or result.
In scene 3, Romeo is eager to get married with Juliet that he is so happy when Friar reacts positively and accept him to help them to get married. Romeo even falls on the ground. Friar becomes firm that Romeo seriously falls in love with that girl that he would do everything for her. In scene 6, Juliet is a polite girl that when she comes in, she says to Friar that he is the confessor, and even says thank you to the Friar. The politeness and eagerness influence the Friar and, he believes that they are true love. They are going to stay forever in that city. Everything is going to change, and becomes better. But the truth is the opposite, the two family don’t get better, but they get worse. Friar wants to make peace to the city, but he actually screw the whole event.
