Romeo and Juliet

Three days ago, we started the journey to read Romeo and Juliet which is one of the most difficult books in the world. For one is Shakespeare was written in poetry form and he also used iambic pentameter to write. It is a writing way that follows a stressed and unstressed pattern in a line. He usually created 10 syllables in a line, so it sounds amazing, and it’s easy for people to remember lines. In this week, our class read the entire Act 1 and acknowledged the basic information about the character in the book.
Romeo and Juliet are the main characters in this book. Romeo is the son of Montague. Juliet is the daughter of Capulet. The two family have an ancient grudge, so they fought all the time. At first, Romeo falls in love with a girl named Rosaline which is the cousin of Juliet. He tells the audience when he talks to Benvolio. The first scene that he appears is after the Montagues talk to Benvolio to ask the situation about Romeo. Then, he comes to the stage. He was struggling with the love issues with that girl so that he couldn’t get out of it. He always thinks Rosaline was perfect for him in some way, her eyes, her hair, everything from her was perfect, and he likes her, admires her, and all of his lines and sentences between Benvolio is about love and that girl he loves. Every time he comes out, it’s about love. Actually, the first time he appears, I was like oh, he is related to the teenagers nowadays because at this time, we all love someone, but maybe that person doesn’t like us at all. I could feel some connection between he and I. It was like the problems of all the teens today. Well, I have learned that Romeo cares about love so much; he is a romantic person that whenever he is on stage, he will talk about Rosaline. I feel like I don’t really like him at the first impression because all he cares is love. I don’t really like people talk about their lover’s characteristics in front of friends so it would become so weird. Maybe, he or she can mention for once or twice, but if you talk more, it would be embarrassing. Also, he already knew that Rosaline doesn’t like him, so why doesn’t he give up her and find another girl that he likes? If then,  he will waste much time just wait for her to like him. In my opinion, I don’t really like him because he immediately falls in love with Juliet. When he first meets her, he just feels like she is the one that he wants, but it’s bad that maybe he still likes Rosaline.

Juliet is the protagonist as well as Romeo. She is the daughter of Capulet. The first scene that she comes out was when Paris wants Juliet to marry him, so he goes to Capulet’s house. As a result, his mom persuades her to marry him by throwing a party in their house, so Juliet can see Paris and accustomed his appearances and habits, then, she could be a good wife like other girls. Not only her mom, her nurse is beside her as well; I think she is the one who always is with her when she was young, so her mom calls nurse to tell her to marry with Paris as well, but Juliet is scared of her parents that she doesn't want to disagree with her parents, so she gets to say she will see to like Paris just to make some excuses. Maybe if she doesn’t meet Romeo in the party, she will say to her parents that she doesn’t want to marry Paris. But the thing is she meets Romeo in the party, so she thinks this person is funny and interesting. She wants to get to know more about Romeo. I think Juliet is a person that is quiet and innocent, but she has her own thinking about love. in act 1 scene 3, she is talking with her mom and the nurse. In that paragraph, we could see that Juliet is a quiet person because she seldom talks, and she doesn’t know much about marriage, and love. Rather than Romeo, she is a girl that knows nothing about love, but her love is definitely pure. I like her because she is nice to people such as the nurse and her mom, and also she is cute in some way.
